Notes from 10/29/10 Meeting

5 WEEKS LEFT!

Characters - Pin's color palette is finished! We have all the characters except Onette. Artur will finish Onette's colors. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We agreed on magenta, that would look great with her blond hair and the coolness juxtaposes the enemy colors.

UI - We have some great ideas on how they will look. The screw and nut will be the health bar. Chris suggested a battery indicator for the magic and a minimap on the corner. I will post up various mock screenshots. Getting the UI placement will also help Lily with the box art (Chris, bring a game box for next week, I will get Lily the Wacom software package).

World - Alvin's draft is final; he will post that soon and work on a polished, to-scale town. The addition of Pin's family statues are a great idea! Also, modify the main streets so they are wider to make it obvious for the player to navigate. Everything looks great.

Gameplay - We have the story down, but unsure about the specific gameplay. What events will force the player to progress in the game? What is the basic sequence the player will go through (why the player has to go to a specific world in a particular order).

Animatic - We will make an animatic of the "teaser" video of the game when the game disc is running (the short video that plays when the game menu is idle). It's short, and is more interesting then the beginning sequence of the game (since we'll have scenes of different characters in the teaser). The video will have the menu/loading screen, then a short (30-second) video. We need to decide on what is going to be shown in the teaser, then someone will make the thumbnail compositions. Once the thumbnails are approved, all we need to do is make a greyscale keyframe. Nothing to fancy, it's just something that will get the message across. Size of the keyframes will be discussed later. First and foremost, we need to figure out what to put in the teaser. I want to get that down by next week, since the thumbnails/keyframes/timing/post-production stuff need to be done, so please share your ideas.

I signed us up to present on the last day of class, December 18 (which doesn't make sense, because that is a Saturday). Our presentation is from 1 PM to 1:30 PM. The slots for the last two days were filled, and I wanted enough time for us to finish the animatic.

  1. This all sounds pretty good, looking forward to seeing Alvin's final draft. I have a few ideas for the animatic "teaser".
