Initial Game Concepts

Please post your game concepts in the comments for this post. Link or attach any images, scans, soundfiles, etc. that support the concept and clearly portray the tone and gameplay mechanics. We should all give feedback to each other and quickly come to a decision on the concept we are to develop.

  1. At our first meeting a number of good ideas were mentioned.

Chris had many different epic, "A-list" project ideas which had elements of strategy, role playing, and story driven action. His themes ranged from totalitarian dystopias, to cavemen learning to communicate and avoid danger, and a survival strategy scenario with a sci-fi twist.

Maja had a clear endpoint in sight for whatever our final project will be. The iPhone and other handheld wireless devices, and the casual gaming market. She also had a humorous idea for a top down, or bird's-eye view game in which you take control of a vengeful pigeon. You must stop to eat worms and insects and junk food now and then to replenish your "ammo".

Sam had an idea for a reflex or rhythm based game in which you must safely navigate a treacherous series of staircases, escalators, elevators, etc. and reach your goal on time. Think Bart Station meets The Exorcist with an adorable tumbling protagonist and plenty of yellow warning tape.

As you can see, we are basically brainstorming until we hit on something that clicks. I think the wide variety of concepts listed above is a great start.
