Mini Games

So if I am correct each themed world will have games within it and the player will gain upgrades/items/or progress by beating the games.
My ideas are similar to Banjo Kazooie's or Super Mario 64 games where you could encounter these games by speaking to characters within the level (or world) and either helping them out or taking on challenges.

Here are a few that could be within the same world/level....
1.)  Player enters forest world and encounters a puppet holding his dismantled right arm in the left hand. "I seem to have misplaced my elbow peg...Can't get any work done this way..." Next to him stands a little daughter puppet who says she hasn't seen her dog in a while and is worried.
Later in the level you find the dog playfully gnawing on the missing arm peg. You approach the dog but anytime you get close he darts away. If you try and sneak up from behind he hears you coming and bolts. The trick is to intentionally chase him until he reaches a point he is cornered and you can catch him. You pick up the peg and the dog runs out of sight. When you return the the puppet and give him the elbow joint he rewards you and thanks you for finding his daughter's dog as well.

2.) One of the worlds you visit could be turned in a state of chaos because the prince has gone missing. Everything is a mess and an evil group of puppets/people/witches/ have taken control of the village. At some point in level (near a creek?) you find a frog- "Riiiibitt....kiiiisss me" haha or something. It is the prince transformed by the evil puppets/people/witches who now run the place. This is playing off the Grimm's fairy tails and the players mind will immediately think to find a princess within the level.
One of the little girls in the town, when interacted with, says "My daddy calls me a princess." You must take the frog to her and get her to kiss him. There could be some playful dialogue there. The prince is restored and the world rights itself allowing the player to move on or accomplish different mini game within the level. Player is rewarded.

Also we need to establish items that the player will find or earn throughout the game that will constitute money or upgrades. The items should be simple and easily recognizable.
Iconic item ideas...
Buttons- (possibly monetary system?)
Fabric
Wood blocks (different types of wood for upgradable arms head legs etc, mahogany, oak, cedar)
Gold/Gold coins (classic)
Empty Spools
Thimbles

Let me know if this seems on track! :)

  1. This definitely will work for the final document because it clearly defines a goal and how to achieve it. Also, please see Maja's post about moving forward as it sums up where we need to go from here.
